Winner of an Amy Lowell scholarship, a Whiting Writer’s award, and fellowships from the Radcliffe Institute for Advanced Study, the Rockefeller Foundation, the Fine Arts Work Center, Yaddo, and MacDowell, Elizabeth Arnold has published five books of poetry, The Reef (University of Chicago Press,1999), Civilization (Flood Editions, 2006), Effacement (Flood Editions, 2010), Life (Flood Editions, 2014), and Skeleton Coast (Flood Editions 2017). Arnold’s poems have appeared or are forthcoming in Paris Review, Ploughshares, Poetry, Slate, Kenyon Review, Chicago Review, Conjunctions, B O D Y, and The Nation. As a Ph.D. student, she discovered an unpublished novel by the British poet, Mina Loy, which was published by Black Sparrow Press in 1990. She is on the MFA faculty at University of Maryland.
John James is the author of The Milk Hours, selected by Henri Cole for the Max Ritvo Poetry Prize, published this June by Milkweed Editions. His chapbook, Chthonic, received the 2014 CutBank Chapbook Prize. His poems appear in Boston Review, Kenyon Review, Gulf Coast, Poetry Northwest, Best American Poetry 2017, and elsewhere. His work has been supported by the Bread Loaf Environmental Writers’ Conference, the Academy of American Poets, and Georgetown University’s Lannan Center for Poetics and Social Practice. He lives in California, where he is pursuing a PhD at UC Berkeley.
Christopher Kondrich is the author of Valuing(University of Georgia Press, 2019), selected by Jericho Brown as a winner of the National Poetry Series, and Contrapuntal (Free Verse Editions, 2013). A winner of The Iowa Review Award for Poetry and The Paris-American Reading Series Prize, his work has received support from the Hambidge Center for the Creative Arts & Sciences and the I-Park Foundation. New poems appear or are forthcoming in the Academy of American Poets’ Poem-a-Day, The Believer, Boston Review, Conjunctions, Crazyhorse, Harvard Review, The Kenyon Review, Witness, and elsewhere. He holds an MFA from Columbia University’s School of the Arts and a PhD from the University of Denver. An Associate Editor for 32 Poems, he lives and works in Maryland.
